This August marks a milestone moment for sport and healthcare in the Emirates as the World Transplant Games welcomes its first-ever UAE team to Dresden, Germany, with the full backing of ASICS. The global performance brand is sponsoring six remarkable athletes, each one a testament to resilience, recovery, and the power of sport to change lives.

More than just a competition, the World Transplant Games is a global celebration of second chances. It brings together transplant recipients, living donors, and their families from across the world, spotlighting the life-saving impact of organ donation and the role movement plays in both physical and emotional healing.

Team UAE’s debut is as inspiring as it is diverse. Liver transplant recipient and educator Katie Larkins will lead the charge in long-distance races while championing organ donation and youth wellness. Two-time kidney transplant recipient Omar “OT” Tom takes to the track as a sprinter, inspiring a new generation of transplant athletes. Fatima Rashid, a kidney transplant recipient and mental health advocate, will compete in multiple events, while Justin Anthony, a double lung transplant recipient, showcases his skills in competitive throwing and bowling. Filmmaker Husena Beguwala, a lung transplant survivor, will raise awareness for rare diseases through running, and Hind Juma, a living kidney donor who saved her mother’s life, returns to competition with a renewed sense of purpose.

For ASICS, the partnership is a natural fit. Guided by the Japanese philosophy Anima Sana In Corpore Sano, “A Sound Mind in a Sound Body,” the brand has always championed sport as a path to holistic wellbeing. Supporting Team UAE goes beyond athletic performance; it is about fueling a movement that celebrates purpose, perseverance, and the human spirit.

As these six athletes prepare to step onto the world stage, they carry more than national pride. They carry a message: that every stride, every throw, every breath is proof of the body’s ability to heal and the mind’s limitless capacity for hope.
